Your Assignment for Wednesday 16 September

We will not meet in the classroom 16 September. This is a "real-world" type of assignment that continues to focus on Twitter. You can do this assignment on your own from GUST, your home, or wherever you may be (including outside of Kuwait). If you prefer to work in the classroom you may do so, but you may not collaborate with another student.

Select a favorite product or service and promote it on Twitter (except you will not actually send your messages publicly). Select something you really like. Prepare 3 different Twitter promotions for that product/service. Include photos in at least 2 of the promotions. Include links in all 3 of the promotions. Include at least 1 "#keyword" in each of your posts. You can only select 1 product/service. Don't tell anyone which product/service you selected because if two or more students select the same product/service I will suspect collaboration. You must do this project solo. You can ask someone to check your English usage (that's usually a good idea).

The product/service you select, the photos you use, and what you link to is entirely up to you. Your promotions should be creative and persuasive.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

1.  Creativity. How clever are your promotions, including the content of the photos?
2.  Persuasion. How persuasive are your promotions? Would I click on the links?
3.  Appropriate images, links and keywords, i.e. do they complement the campaign?
4.  Accuracy, including use of good English.

Here’s what you do:

  1. Open a WORD document and save the file in this format: (FirstName)_GUSTID_Twitpaign.doc or docx. 
  2. Load each of your posts (including photos and links) into Twitter as though you were going to send the post BUT DO NOT SEND IT. Make sure the posts meet Twitter’s 140 character rule. Take a screen shot (see my example) of each post.
  3. Type your name and GUST ID at the top of your Word document.
  4. Copy your screenshots into the Word document. I want to see each of your posts. 
  5. Explain in a couple of sentences why you chose the product/service that you promoted. What was your motivation for selecting this product/service?
  6. Explain in a few sentences what you think your 3 promotions can achieve for your selected product/service. Will the promotions sell more product/service? Will the promotions create “top of mind awareness”? Will the promotions create interest in the product/service? What will your campaign accomplish?
  7. What's your campaign worth? In a sentence or two, tell me how much you think the owner of the product/service you selected should pay for your campaign of 3 promotions? Explain why.  
  8. Email the assignment to me with Subject: Twitter Campaign. Deadline: before midnight in Kuwait on Wednesday 16 September. 
Have fun with the project! Promote a product/service that you like and enjoy the process.
